Description

Hike Maui is the first hiking company in the state, offering tours since 1983, and are a pioneer in adventure eco tours on Maui. Their expert guides are trained naturalists with extensive knowledge of the history, culture, geology and botany of the areas they tour and they are also personable and caring, providing an outdoor experience you won’t soon forget. With most tours you’ll have the option of being picked up at your hotel or condo or you can meet your guide at the Park & Ride location at the intersection of Highway 311 and Highway 380 in Kahului (a couple miles from the airport). Hike Maui transports their guests in a 14-passenger van to the hike location.

They provide bottled water, a snack, bug repellent, backpacks, and ponchos (in case of rain). On most tours, lunch is provided, consisting of your choice of turkey or ham sandwich, vegetarian garden burger, or peanut butter and jelly sandwich as well as a cookie and tropical fruit. For waterfall hikes you’ll want to wear shorts and short-sleeved shirts unless you are really bothered by mosquitoes then you may prefer long sleeves and pants. Your guide will have repellent as well. For shoes, you’ll be most comfortable in running shoes or sport sandals like Tevas, Chacos, or Keens. Please be aware that your shoes may get muddy or dirty in the jungle. For waterfall tours, you’ll want to wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. Sunscreen is also helpful and they request you bring a plastic bag for your phone or camera to prevent any damage caused by moisture. On some hikes there will be a toilet or porta-potty at the trailhead but once on the trail, you’ll need to head for the bushes. If you’re uncomfortable with this, please talk to your guide before beginning so you can both decide what’s best for you. Your guide is there to help in every way they can. If you enjoy your tour, you may show your appreciation by tipping your guide.
