The Old Lahaina Luau takes place on the waterfront at the northern end of Lahaina town. It prides itself on being a truly authentic Hawaiian luau that has won awards for their legendary music and hula performances. With low table seating close to the stage, you can opt to sit on cushions and feel into the Asian influence on Hawaiian culture. Of course, there is also the option of dining at a table with chairs. If your party doesn’t fill a table, you may make new friends with those seated with you.
Upon arriving, you will be greeted with fresh flower lei and a tropical drink. You will then have some time to learn about Hawaiian culture with the imu ceremony, poi pounding or kapa making demonstrations. Professional photographers are also available to capture that perfect moment (no obligations to purchase).
The traditional and bountiful Hawaiian buffet will have something for everyone and many dishes you may not have even heard of. Be sure to try the lau lau, lomilomi salmon, chicken long rice, and kalua pig (especially after witnessing the fascinating cooking process). Be sure to save room for dessert and try the haupia and passion fruit cake. Taste these delicious representations of Hawaiian culture while you witness the sunset against the backdrop of the great Pacific and the beautiful islands of Lana’i and Moloka’i.
Once you’ve filled your bellies, you can relax and watch the traditional hula show that will take you on a chronological journey through the history of Hawaii through dance and music. Starting with the Polynesian migration and the ancient Hawaiians connection to their Gods, the show then moves through the influence of the missionaries into the evolution of a more contemporary expression of hula. Appreciate the legendary music and feel the chants move through you as you take in the talent and passion of this authentic expression of Hawaii.
